- "Autumn" From The Lemon and the Four Season of Japan -

The striking woodblock print Autumn, from The Lemon and the Four Seasons of Japan series, is by Yoshisuke Funasaka. This series features the artist’s iconic lemon motif interpreted through Japan’s four seasons, with this work beautifully embodying the ginkgo-colored leaves of autumn. The exceptionally large format is immediately eye-catching, while the vibrant yellow creates a striking contrast with the other colors.

The ginkgo leaves scattered across the entire composition create a distinctive design, and the black and reddish-orange accents further enhance its vivid, modern character. Though simple in design, the work possesses a quiet poetry that gently captivates the viewer. Its refined simplicity and lively palette make it an excellent complement to modern décor.

This series was produced in a limited edition of 300 copies, with an additional 30 impressions marked “H.C.” (hors commerce), meaning “not for sale” in French.

Condition: Overall, the print is in good condition, with minor toning along the margins, especially at the edges. There are a few very faint tiny spots, a small ink spot on the margins, and tiny creases at the corners. The paper surface shows some minor scuffs and rough areas, likely resulting from the hand-printing process. These subtle imperfections do not detract from the overall beauty of the artwork.
