- Ukimidō Kosame (Drizzling Rain in Ukimidō) -

The serene woodblock print "Ukimidō Kosame" (Drizzling Rain in Ukimidō) by Takeji Asano depicts a woman in a kimono walking in the rain along a path beside Ukimidō, a small temple hall that appears to float on Lake Biwa, portrayed with delicate elegance. Though the atmosphere is slightly gloomy, the fresh green foliage contrasts beautifully with the vibrant red of her sash and the dark blue of her umbrella. The gentle reflection of the umbrella in the puddle adds a poetic charm to the composition.

The publisher's seal of Unsodo, the carver's seal "Okura," and the printer's seal "Harada" are in the left margin. Printed on genuine handmade washi paper, the design was originally published in 1953—this impression is a later edition printed from the original blocks.
