The lovely small-format woodblock print “Yae Tsubaki - Mutsuki” (Double-Flowered Japanese Camellia – January), from the series Twelve Aspects of Flowers, is by Tomikichiro Tokuriki (1902–2000). Printed in 1978, the composition features the Japanese title “Yae Tsubaki” on the right, where the artist’s signature and red seal, both reading “Tomi,” also appear. The Japanese subtitle “Mutsuki” appears in the upper left.

A double-flowered red camellia, lightly dusted with snow, is depicted with charming delicacy. In Japan, double-flowered varieties—such as double-flowered cherry blossoms and camellias—have long been especially admired for their graceful beauty and abundant petals.
