The beautiful and striking etching print “Synonym VI” is by Shinichi Nakazawa (b. 1956). This large vertical-format artwork features a sophisticated modern abstract design. Elegant calligraphic forms surround two striking gold squares, creating a compelling balance between tradition and contemporary expression. The print is pencil-signed by the artist and includes the title, edition number, and embossed seal in the lower margin. It is a limited edition of only 50 impressions. Another impression of this print is held in the collection of the National Museum of Asian Art, part of the Smithsonian Institution.

Shinichi Nakazawa was born in Tokyo in 1956. He is a highly regarded contemporary artist known for creating modern works that incorporate a distinctly Japanese aesthetic. His unique technique combines etching with layers of metal foils, including silver, gold, platinum, and rainbow foil—a process that produces iridescent rainbow effects on silver foil through heat treatment. His works are included in the collections of the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Rockefeller Foundation in New York, and the Smithsonian Institution.

Condition: Overall good condition. There are minor handling creases and faint spots on the margins. They are difficult to capture in photographs and are less noticeable in person.
