- Gosho no Aki (Autumn at the Imperial Palace in Kyoto) -

The stunning woodblock print “Gosho no Aki” (Autumn at the Imperial Palace in Kyoto) is by Masao Ido (1945–2016). This large, vertically oriented work presents a breathtaking autumn scene at the Kyoto Imperial Palace.

In autumn, the Palace grounds reveal a remarkable harmony of crimson maple foliage and radiant golden ginkgo trees. One especially monumental ginkgo, standing majestically within the grounds, is particularly renowned for its extraordinary beauty and imposing presence. Bathed in soft light, its brilliant leaves seem to glow against the tranquil architecture of the Palace.

Set within this serene atmosphere, the brilliant autumn colors create a striking contrast, transforming the scene into a magnificent seasonal spectacle. With his characteristic warmth and sensitivity to atmosphere, Ido masterfully captures both the grandeur and quiet elegance of Kyoto in autumn.

Condition: Very good condition. There is a very minor scuff on the lower right margin, as well as a slight paper scuff along the lower right edge of the bottom margin; both are subtle and hardly noticeable to the casual observer. There are also a couple of the faintest pinhead-sized spots on the bottom margin, which are likewise very difficult to detect. Please refer to the photos. The price has been adjusted slightly accordingly.
