- Shu to Ao no Tomoe (Vermilion and Blue Tomoe) -

Shu to Ao no Tomoe (Vermilion and Blue Tomoe) is a vibrant 1973 silkscreen print by Toshinobu Onosato. Broad, interlocking curves in vermilion and blue form the tomoe motif, set against smaller geometric shapes in orange and green. The contrast between the flowing curves and angular pattern gives the composition a lively sense of movement.

Toshinobu Onosato (1912–1986) was a major figure in postwar Japanese abstract art. He developed a distinctive visual language based on circles, geometric repetition, and vivid color relationships. His work was exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale, and he is well regarded for his achievements in printmaking.

The print is hand-signed “Onosato,” dated ’73, and numbered 106/200 in pencil along the lower margin. It comes with its original folder.
