The beautiful woodblock print Musume Hidokei, Tatsu no Koku (The Hour of the Dragon, from the series Sundial of Young Women) is by Utamaro Kitagawa (1753–1806). This series of prints depicts the daily life of a town girl at different times of the day. Tatsu no Koku in summer corresponds to seven o’clock in the morning. The young girl, dressed in a summer kimono and holding a morning glory, adds a charming touch to this stunning print. Originally printed in the 1790s, this is a recarved edition from the late Showa era (1980–1990). The woodblock print features high-quality colors, intricate details, and beautiful embossing. Please take a moment to appreciate the superb details.
