- M Street Georgetown Washington, DC -

The beautiful black-and-white woodblock print "M Street, Georgetown, Washington, D.C." is by Unichi Hiratsuka (1895–1997). This work depicts the historic streetscape of Georgetown, Washington, D.C., as seen through the artist's eyes during his more than thirty years of residence in the United States (1962–1994). Rendered in Hiratsuka's bold yet simple style, the composition captures the neighborhood's timeless architecture with warmth and remarkable character.

The print is accompanied by a separate message sheet that reads:

"America's best is the world's best. For me, Georgetown is the best place in the world. I have been browsing antique shops there for twenty years."

These words reflect Hiratsuka's deep affection for Georgetown and its enduring charm.

The print also comes with its original folder cover. The caption on the original folder cover reads, "From the series commemorating my 88th birthday: Georgetown, M Street, Washington, D.C.," together with the artist's red seal "Hiratsuka".

Condition: Overall in good condition for its age. There is a very tiny spot on the right edge of the verso that shows through very faintly on the front. It is barely noticeable and will be easily concealed with matting. Please refer to the close-up photograph of the front. The right edge of the paper has the naturally rough texture characteristic of handmade washi paper. The original folder cover is included but is in worn condition, with tears, creases, and other signs of age and handling. Please refer to the photographs.
