The unique Western-style woodblock print "Kyokubadan" (Traveling Circus Horse Acrobats) is by Hide Kawanishi (1894-1965). This colorful print depicts delightful circus horse acrobats and performers of the traveling circus. This was later printed in 1979. (posthumous printing)
Hide Kawasnishi was born in Kobe. He never left his hometown. His modernist and exotic landscape of Kobe and the colorful circus scenes continue to fascinate people both inside and outside Japan. He is one of the pioneer artists of the Sosaku Hanga movement. (Taisho - Early Showa era)

Signed: 2 Artist signatures and "Hide" in Hiragana on the middle red portion of the image. Artist's red square seal "Hide" in Kanji on the lower right margin.
Condition: Excellent condition. A few very minor ink smudges on the margin as shown.
