The exquisite still life print, "Kudamono Kago" (Fruits Basket), is by Wako Ito (b. 1945). This large mezzotint print captures various fruits in a woven basket. Each fruit is delicately depicted, from the vibrant red apple to the juicy grapes and pear, creating a feast for the eyes. The subtle gradations of colors are amazingly beautiful, and the superb details of this colored-mezzotint print are sure to catch your eye.

Wako Ito was born in Hokkaido in 1945. She is a copperplate print artist who expresses still lifes from everyday life through skillful mezzotint engraving and printing.
