The remarkable woodblock print 'Haru no Sakurajima' (Sakurajima in Spring) by Fumio Kitaoka (1918–2007), printed in 1974, beautifully captures the fresh and serene spring view of Sakurajima in Kagoshima Prefecture.
In this large-format work, a grand cherry tree in full bloom stands gracefully before the majestic Sakurajima—the enduring symbol of Kagoshima. A ferry passes on the water, surrounded by nature. The vibrant use of color and contrast is both striking and poetic, evoking the fleeting beauty of the season.

The print is numbered 'Artist's proof,' titled in Japanese, and signed and dated by the artist in pencil along the bottom margin. The Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts in Tokyo has a copy of this print.

Sakurajima is an active stratovolcano, once an island and now a peninsula.

Recommended for anyone looking to frame and enjoy this Japanese artwork.
