The vibrant silkscreen print “Gemini” (Constellation Series) is by Kumi Sugai (1919–1996). This large-format print depicts the zodiac sign Gemini in a unique way. The work clearly showcases the artist's signature style: bold, simple, and concise forms, clear colors, and refined shapes. This print would be especially meaningful for those born under the sign of Gemini (May 21–June 21).

The work is pencil-signed “Sugai,” dated ’73, and numbered 25/100 by the artist. It is from a limited edition of only 100 prints. A sticker reading “Gemini” (Constellation Series) by Kumi Sugai in Japanese (Seiza Series, Futago-za) appears on the verso. Please see the photo.

Kumi Sugai (1919–1996) was born in Hyogo Prefecture. After studying at the Osaka School of Fine Arts, he worked as a graphic designer while training under the famous Japanese painter Teii Nakamura and later developed an interest in Western art.

He moved to France in 1952 and gained recognition in Paris. In the early 1960s, he shifted to bold, dynamic abstraction inspired by speed and movement, particularly the tension and speed of his Porsche. His later work became increasingly geometric, focusing on circles and lines. His works are held in major museums in Japan, France, and around the world.
