- Cello-hiki (Cellist), 1971 -

The rare and humorous woodblock print "Cello-hiki" (Cellist), printed in 1971, is by Takeji Asano. The composition portrays a solitary cellist beside a cello nearly equal in size to the figure itself, filling the picture plane with bold, simplified forms. Executed in a limited palette, the print creates a striking visual impact through its bold contrast and simplified forms. It is a wonderful example of Asano's distinctive style, perfectly balancing strength, simplicity, and playful abstraction. Its dynamic, modern design makes it especially well suited to contemporary interiors and pairs beautifully with mid-century décor.

The Japanese title "セロ弾き" (Cello-hiki), the artist's hand-signed name "浅野竹二", and the pencil signature "T. Asano" appear in the lower margin. The number 238 (likely the artist's design number) is noted at the lower right edge. The block signature "T.a." with the date appears within the lower center of the image.

Condition: Overall, in good condition for its age. There are visible ink smudges on both the margins and within the image, as shown. These are characteristic of boldly printed Sōsaku Hanga works. The price has been adjusted accordingly. A protective folder is included but is not attached.
