The beautiful woodblock print "Hanabi" (Fireworks) is by Yumeji Takehisa (1884-1934) A woman is watching fireworks at the riverside. Colorful fireworks reflect on the water. Limited edition size of only 500 sheets. The artist's seal is on the lower left corner of the image. Artist's name "Yumeji", the title "Hanabi", the date "'97", the edition number, and the publisher's name "Minato-ya" with a red seal on the bottom margin. (in pencil by publisher) This is a recarved edition by Minato-ya (publisher) in 1997. The woman's Kimono colors and firework colors are matching which is very lovely and tasteful.
Yumeji Takehisa was born in Okayama in 1884. He is very famous for his Bijin-ga (paintings of beautiful women), in addition, he succeeded as an illustrator for many books or advertisements. His typical lyrical works were called 'Yumeji-style beauties (Bijin). He is a representative painter of Taisho romance, and was sometimes called the "Ukiyo-e artist of the Taisho era''.
