Shunsen Natori

The adorable woodblock print "Two Puppies" is by Shunsen Natori (1886–1960). This print depicts two little puppies against a warm-colored background, capturing their playful and lovable nature. The artist's signature, "S. Natori" with the artist's red seal and Watanabe publisher's seal (7mm) are located in the lower left corner of the image. On the verso, there is a red square Watanabe seal and a limited edition number 17/250 in Japanese Kanji. Natori Shunsen is famous for his woodblock prints of Kabuki actors; however, five designs of woodblock prints of dogs and cats were published by Watanabe Publisher in the Showa period.
