- Fudō Myōō, No.90 -

Kihei Sasajima

5028

The fantastic woodblock print "Fudō Myōō, No.90" (Acala)  is by Kihei Sasajima (1906-1993). Printed on thin red-colored washi paper. Unique texture with heavy embossing by the Takuzuri technique. This technique involves spraying a mist onto paper to give it moisture and transferring the designs of the protruding sections by pressing against them forcefully. His Takuzuri prints are really powerful with his own technique of relief printing.

Kihei Sasajima was born in 1906 in Tochigi prefecture. His artworks were influenced by his teacher Shiko Munakata and Unichi Hiratsuka. He dedicated his life to black and white woodblock prints created in Takuzuri. His collectors are worldwide.
