The wonderful woodblock print 'Ishiyama-dera, Basho-an Mae' (From Basho-an at The Temple of Sacred Stone) is by Junichiro Sekino. Part of the Oku no Hosomichi series, this print captures the breathtaking view of the unique two-storied pagoda from Basho-an (Basho hermitage, a small tea house) at Ishiyama-dera in Shiga prefecture. The beauty of the pagoda and its surroundings bring a tranquil and sacred atmosphere to your space. The Japanese title and the artist's red seal are in the lower right corner of the image. Dated "'85," it is hand-signed "Jun. Sekino," with the sheet number and watermark on the bottom margin.

Ishiyamadera Tahoto pagoda

This is the oldest of the Tahoto pagodas, built in 1194, and is known for the beautiful balance between the upper and lower stories and the curves of its eaves, making it the oldest and most beautiful Tahoto pagoda in Japan. It has been designated an Important Cultural Property.
