The superb woodblock print 'Gion, Kyoto' is by Masao Ido (1945–2016). This stunning print captures the beauty of Gion, a historic district in Kyoto known for its traditional architecture. It features the famous kappo restaurant, 'Kisaragi Takashi', creating a serene image of a traditional street in Kyoto. The gentle light through the shoji door adds a heartwarming atmosphere to the scene. While the artist is known for his many remarkable landscape prints, architectural subjects like this one are relatively rare.
