The most iconic Japanese woodblock print, 'Kanagawa oki namiura' (The Great Wave), is by Hokusai Katsushika (1760–1849), from the series 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji' (Fugaku sanjūrokkei). This is a re-carved edition, published by Oedo Mokuhan-sha in Showa 62 nen (1987). The publisher's seal, supervisor's seal, carver's seal, and printer's seal are on the right margin. 'The Great Wave' and 'Red Mt. Fuji' are the two most popular and recognized masterpieces by Hokusai. This high-quality print by the famous publisher showcases a strikingly beautiful image. In my opinion, among all the re-carved prints I have seen so far, this one exhibits the highest quality. The print came off of the original presentation folder. However, it still comes with a folder.
