The woodblock print 'Haru-ranman no Takizakura' (Waterfall Cherry Tree in Spring) by Masao Ido captures the delicate beauty of a weeping cherry tree in Miharu, Fukushima. This cherry tree is called the Miharu Beni-shidare-zakura. It is a weeping cherry tree in Miharu, about 400 years old, and is said to be the daughter of the Miharu Takizakura. The cascading pink blossoms resemble a waterfall against the blue sky. Created using 35 blocks and 43 printings, this handmade woodblock is a testament to traditional craftsmanship. The addition of gold and silver leaf enhances its detail, highlighting both Japan’s natural beauty and Masao Ido’s artistry.
