The magnificent woodblock print "Heart Island" is by Mitsuru Hiraki (b. 1958). This striking piece features a vivid heart at the center, radiating a soft gradation that forms a romantic and calming composition. The gentle transition from purple to blue creates a soothing atmosphere, evoking a sense of peace and healing. Hiraki often draws inspiration from everyday elements in nature—seeds, leaves, petals, and even the shape of a heart—capturing their quiet, understated beauty.

Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1958, Hiraki earned his Master of Fine Arts from Tama Art University in 1983. He has received numerous awards and held exhibitions both in Japan and internationally. His works are rarely seen on the market, making them true hidden gems.
