Beautiful woodblock print "Nikko Shinkyo no yuki" (Snow at Shinkyo Bridge in Nikko) is by Hasui Kawase (1883-1957). Excellent shading throughout with light embossing. First printed in 1930 originally by Kawaguchi & Sakai; this is a later printing by Shobisha from original blocks. Shobisha obtained the original blocks in about 1950. Signed Hasui with red artist seal "sui" on the lower right corner of the image. Bottom margin contains title "Nikko Shinkyo no yuki" (Snow at Shinkyo Bridge in Nikko) and "Showa 5 nen saku"(printed in 1930) in Japanese. Striking silkscreen print "Sugo zishi" (Shishi 'Lion' Dance in Sugo) is by Masaaki Tanaka (b.1947). Sheet number 267/850, title in Japanese, and hand-signed on the bottom margin. Masaaki Tanaka was born in Tokyo in 1947. He graduated from Musashino Art University with a major in Oil Painting in 1971. He educated himself in silkscreen after learning woodblock printmaking and stone lithography, while making repeated visits to Europe and the United States. His silkscreen shows Japanese traditional festivals or cultures. His work is found in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, Honolulu Museum of Art, and Albrecht Fine Art Museum. Now he is a well-known silkscreen artist. His collectors are based worldwide.

The remarkable woodblock print "Hōboku" (Pasture) is by Susumu Yamaguchi (1897-1983). A phenomenal view of the pasture in the Japanese Alps. Relaxing mountain scenery with horses and cows. The beautiful woodblock print "Ishizuchi Kogen" (Ishizuchi Plateau) is by Fumio Kitaoka (1918 - 2007). Printed in 1976. Very large size print. A beautiful nature scenery of Ishizuchi plateau in Ehime, Japan. Phenomenal Mt. Ishizuchi in the back, creating a sense of depth. Titled, dated, and hand-signed on the bottom margin.
Mount Ishizuchi is the highest mountain on the island of Shikoku and also the highest mountain west of Mount Haku. It is known as 'the roof of Shikoku' and the sharp, rocky summit resembles a huge stone hammer. Mount Ishizuchi is an important object of worship in this region and one of the major centers of Shugendō, a sect of a mixture of Shintoism and Buddhism. Unique Japanese etching "Shishi-Dog (A)" is by Hiroto Norikane. Sheet number 109/500. Printed in 2000. Very strong impressive print. This print shows Okinawa Shisa (lion dog). The focal point is the "Shisa" on the roof. Many people in Okinawa put a pair of Shisa (lion dog) on their rooftops. Shisa are wards believed to protect from various evils. Beautiful Japanese etching "Okinawa Roof" is by Hiroto Norikane. Sheet number 222/500. Printed in 2001. This is one of Norikane's popular Okinawa series. This print shows Okinawa Shisa (lion dog). The focal point is the "Shisa" on the roof. Many people in Okinawa put a pair of Shisa (lion dog) on their rooftops. Shisa are wards believed to protect from various evils. The red seal reads "Hiro" which is from "Hiroto" Hand-numbered, titled, signed, and dated by the artist in pencil.

Wonderful woodblock print "Kōnominato" - Tsukushi gokei (Kōnominato from the series Five Scenes of Tsukushi) is by Hanjiro Sakamoto (1882-1969). Originally published in Taisho 7 (1918). This is a later printing by Kato Hanga Kenkyusho in Showa 45 (1970). Limited edition of 300 prints published. Carver is Kentaro Maeda, Printer is Bunji Yokoyama.
Kōnominato is a famous fish village located in Munakata City, Fukuoka, facing the rough seas of the Genkai Sea and it is also a popular scenic area. The title "Kōnominato" on the lower-left corner of the image. Artist's red seal "Hanjiro" and the embossed publisher's seal "Hanmoto Kato Hanga Kenkyusho" on the lower right margin. Very rare print.
Hanjiro Sakamoto (1882 - 1969) was born in Fukuoka prefecture. He is a well-known Western-style painter. His artworks combine special soft colors, and the theme of the paintings is the scenery, which gives a sense of familiarity.
