- Tachidomaru to mizuoto no suruhōe michi (A Path Leading Toward the Sound of Water) -

The charming print “Tachidomaru to mizuoto no suruhōe michi” (“A Path Leading Toward the Sound of Water”) is by Iwao Akiyama (1921–2014). The poem at the top is a well-known haiku by Santōka Taneda, which reads: “When I stop walking, I find a path leading toward the sound of water.”

This poem evokes the simple act of pausing—and, in that stillness, becoming aware of the sound of water. The interplay between stopping and listening creates a moment of calm and quiet reflection, gently echoed in the innocent presence of the dog.

Printed on exquisite Japanese washi paper, this woodblock print is titled in Japanese, dated, numbered, and hand-signed by the artist, and bears his red seal “Iwao” at the bottom.
