The rare woodblock print 'The Circus – Toulouse Lautrec' is by Gihachiro Okuyama (1907–1981). This print is a stunning representation of Toulouse Lautrec’s drawing "The Circus", printed in 1967. It is pencil-signed 'Wood-cut print, Gihachiro Okuyama' in the lower right corner of the image and dated 'Showa 42 nen 1 gatsu' (January 1967) with 'Okuyama Gihachiro jizuri' (Printed by Gihachiro Okuyama) on the lower left margin. Nicely embossed. Gihachiro Okuyama produced a wonderful woodblock print series based on famous European paintings and drawings, and this print is one of them. These prints are highly collectible and increasingly hard to find.

Paper size: 15 and 1/2 x 10 and 3/4 inches. (39.5 x 27.5 cm)
Image size: 14 x 10 inches (35.5 x 25.5 cm)
Date: 1967
Signed: Pencil signed on the bottom of the image and lower left margin (in Japanese).
Condition: Reduced price due to the condition. There is toning, a mat line, minor creases and some tiny spots/foxing on the margins and within the image, as shown. The surface has a scratch and two or three tiny raised areas. It also has old backing. These are the reasons I reduced the price. I believe most of the image looks good. Please refer to the pictures.
