The eye-catching woodblock print "Ginza" is by Sumio Kawakami (1895-1972). This print depicts the vibrant energy of Tokyo's famous Ginza district in those days. It is a later printing from the original blocks for the supplement of the book "Kawakami Sumio Zenshu" (Collection of Works by Sumio Kawakami, Vol. 2), which was published in 1979 as a limited edition of 380. The original blocks were carved in Showa 4 nen (1929). This is one of the very attractive prints in the Sosaku Hanga movement; the use of bold colors and lines brings this print to life amazingly.
