The phenomenal woodblock print 'Tottori Sakyu' (The Tottori Sand Dunes) is by Takeji Asano, from the series Various Scenic Views in the Sanin Region. This print captures the beauty of the vast sand dunes in Tottori Prefecture. The title "Tottori Sakyu" and "Takeji ga, koku" (Drawn and carved by Takeji) are in Japanese in the lower left corner of the image. The print offers a wonderful view of the sand dunes and ocean, rendered in fresh colors.
Tottori Sakyu (The Tottori Sand Dunes): Tottori Sakyu is Japan's largest sand dune, a natural masterpiece shaped over thousands of years. I visited several times on family trips. It felt like someplace entirely different from the rest of Japan, and I still remember the excitement I felt the first time I visited.
