"Shato no Yuki" (Snow at Benten Shrine, Inokashira) is by Hasui Kawase (1883-1957). Breathtaking! Excellent shading throughout with light embossing. First printed in 1929 originally by Kawaguchi & Sakai; this is a later printing by Shobisha from original blocks. Shobisha obtained the original blocks in about 1950. Signed Hasui with red artist seal "sui". The bottom margin contains the title "Shato no Yuki" (Snow at Benten Shrine, Inokashira) and "Showa 4nen" (printed in 1929) in Japanese. Pristine condition, never framed, and full margins. Very wonderful "bokashi" shading through print with finely carved details. Very soft romantic colors beautiful and delicate. A true classic Hasui print of the highest order.
