"Motoyoshiwara no asa" (Motoyoshiwara at Morning) by Kawase Hasui (1883 - 1957). Original first edition with the appropriate Watanabe "E" seal in the right margin. Signed Hasui with red artist seal "Sui" in the lower right of the image. The left margin is title in Japanese and in the lower left margin is the date "Showa 15 nen saku" (Printed 1940). From the series, "Takaido fukei senshu" (Select views of the Takaido Road). A rare view of Mt. Fuji by Hasui as seen from the Motoyoshiwara village in the early morning. This is NOT a reprint or a later edition. Watanabe "E" seal is difficult to find and used only from 1932 to 1942.  Hausi prints from 1937 till WWII are very scarce and difficult to obtain.

Condition: Very good condition for its age. 2 drying holes om the left margin corner and some staining (glue) on the verso will be easily matted out when framed. Toning is typical for its age. Please see pictures.
