Noel Nouet (1885 - 1969)

2093

Beautiful print "Kamedo" (Kamedo, Tokyo) is by very famous French artist Noel Nouet (1885-1969). This print is one of Nouet's most popular series "Tokyo Fukei" (Scenery of Tokyo) by Doi publisher.  Dated 1936. This is later print. Artist signature "Noel Nouet" on the lower right of the image. "Keizaburo Yamaguchi" seal and approval seal on the upper left margin. Publisher copyright seal "Hanken shoyuu Doi Eiichi, Carver name: Endo,  Printer name: Ito on the lower left margin.  Title "Kamedo" on the right margin.  "Nouet saku" (made by Nouet) on the bottom margin. Once tipped. His print looks like pen sketches. This print shows well carved sharp black lines nicely. Please see beautiful details. This artist's print is very different from other Japanese artists.

The impeccable combination of Taiko Bashi (bridge) and wisteria, which are notorious icons of Japan allures many artists to capture its beauty.
