Keiichi Takasawa

1988

Very rare Bijin woodblock print "Furisode"(Beautiful woman with Kimono) is by Keiichi Takasawa. Japanese title "Furisode" (Beautiful woman with Kimono), artist name "Keiichi Takasawa", Publisher name "Bijutsu no taiga", Carver name "Tosai Katsuragawa", and printer name "Yasuo Matsunaga" Furisode holds a special meaning; it refers to the kimono that women wear before marriage. Furisode consists of long, drapey sleeves, in contrast to the traditional kimono with short sleeves (after marriage). Beautiful colors and contrast. Very feminine and elegant modern nude print. The title, Furisode refers to the kimono behind the woman. Although the woman is the main focus of the print, the furisode in the background still holds its dominance.
