Very comical woodblock print "Mikake wa kowai ga tonda iihitoda" (Although he does not look It, He is nice) is by Kuniyoshi Utagawa (1797-1861). This print is very well known Kuniyoshi's "Yose-e" (literally, an assembled picture) print. When you see this print carefully, you will see it depicting a face composed of a jumble of bodies. This contains lots of playful spirits. Very unique and humorous print. Recarved edition. Printed in late 1900. Title "Mikake wa kowai ga tonda iihitoda" (Although he does not look It, He is nice) on the upper right of image, Artist name "Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi" and censor seal on the left.

Print size: 6 x 8 and 1/2 inches (15 x 21.6 cm)
Image size: 5 and 3/8 x 8 inches (13.5 x 20 cm)
Signed: "Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi" on the left. 
Condition: Excellent condition. Still tipped on the folder as shown. The original folder has some soils and crease, but the print is in excellent condition.
