The wonderful woodblock print 'Shiba Daimon' (The Great Gate at Shiba) is by Hasui Kawase (1883–1957). It exhibits excellent shading throughout, with light embossing. First printed in 1926 by the Isetasu publisher, this is a later printing by Shobisha from the original blocks. Shobisha obtained the original blocks around 1950 from Isetasu. Signed 'Hasui' with the red artist seal "sui" in the lower right corner of the image. The left margin contains the titles "Shiba Daimon" and 'Taisho 15 nen saku' (printed in 1926) in Japanese. The print features finely carved details and excellent colors. Please see the pictures.
