Yuki no Kohan, Bandai-san (Lakeside in Snow)

Kazuyuki Ohtsu

This print is very special for Japanese. Because Ohtsu created this print as a tribute to the people of stricken area Fukushima. The persimmons quitely hang in the tree in the harsh intense cold without falling. They represent the Fukushima people who live quitely against all hardships and all difficulties of nature. This print shows winter scene of Lake Inawashiro in Fukushima where beautiful swans are floating with magnificent beloved Mt. Bandai in the background. Traditionally swans symbolize love, relationships, and transformation. I can feel Ohtsu's gentle and sensitive heart. Truly beautiful bokashi shading. I hope this beautiful print give peaceful mind to everybody. This beautiful print is absolutely art from the heart.
