This is the twenty-seventh subject he produced 69 scenes Kiso Highway series. Peaceful snow scene with wonderful composition and contrast. Hand signed in pencil, hand numbered 349/500 by the artist. Titled on the bottom margin and subtitle on the lower right of the image. With artist official red "shima" seal. During the Edo period, "Tsumago" was the forty-second of the sixty-nine post towns, which connected Edo (now Tokyo) with Kyoto. Prior to becoming part of the Nakasendō, it was the tenth of eleven stations along the Kisoji, a minor trade route running through the Kiso Valley.
