Breathtaking woodblock print "Tatsumi-bashi"(Tatsumi-bashi Bridge in Gion, Kyoto) is by Teruhide Kato. Extremely rare limited edition print. Peaceful early summer image of Gion, Kyoto. The weeping willow branches stand out elegantly against the traditional architecture. Nice color and fine contrast.
Teruhide Kato had studied at Kyoto Art College. He was a famous kimono fashion designer. When he was 50 years old, he decided to follow his real passion and became a traditional Kyoto woodblock artist. Success remained with the artist. After a gallery exhibition in New York and a book publication of his works titled "Kyoto Romance", he is as famous as a woodblock artist as he used to be as a kimono designer. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2015.
