Lovely woodblock print "Shidare Ro-ji" (Weeping Cherry in Alley) is by Teruhide Kato. Very fine spring image of an alley in Kyoto with a red paper lantern and weeping cherry. Wonderful composition and stunning contrast. Published by Unsodo.
Teruhide Kato had studied at Kyoto Art College. He was a famous kimono fashion designer. When he was 50 years old, he decided to follow his real passion and became a traditional Kyoto woodblock artist. Success remained with the artist. After a gallery exhibition in New York and a book publication of his works titled "Kyoto Romance", he is as famous as a woodblock artist as he used to be as a kimono designer. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2015.
