The beautiful woodblock print "Sumiya" (Restaurant Sumiya) is by Katsuyuki Nishijima. Printed in 1994. Restaurant Sumiya in Shimabara is a fine example of "Ageya" (luxurious restaurant) style architecture which was built more than 250 years ago in Japan. It was designated a National Cultural Treasure in 1952 by the Japanese government. Hand-signed in pencil, hand-titled in Japanese, and hand-numbered by the artist, limited edition number 389/500. Wonderful details with strong colors. Excellent shading, bold colors, and strong ink bleed through.

Condition: Very good condition. Paper toning on the upper left margin corner (edge) and a few minor spots on margins which will be matted out. Paper scuffs on the top edge of verso.
