Fine Japanese woodblock print "HIMEJI CASTLE-SUMMER" is by Clifton Karhu. Printed in 1979. Signed, titled, and numbered by the artist in pencil on the bottom margin. The masterful use of colors in this rare earlier Karhu print represents a prime original example of this famous artist's works. Remarkable full moon image with amazing colors and contrast. This Limited edition size of only 100 sheets.


Himeji Castle is located in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture. It was built in 1609. It’s called “egret castle”, because its beautiful appearance, which looks like a white egret spreading its wings.

Condition: Good condition.  A few ink smudges and toning on the margins with mat line from prior matting. The image part is superb and the color is great.
