Beautiful woodblock print "Hama-cho yori utsusu Ryogoku taika " (Fire at Ryogoku from Hama-cho from the series Famous Views of Tokyo) is by Kiyochika Kobayashi (1847-1915). This is a re-carved edition. Originally printed in 1881. This print was published by Maria Shobo in 1976. "マ" which is from "Maria Shobo" appears just below the box on the lower right margin. Signed on the lower left of the image. Title on the bottom margin, date "Meiji 14 nen"(1881), Original Publisher name "Kumajiro Fukuda" and Artist name "Kiyochika Kobayashi" on the right margin. An absolutely phenomenal Japanese woodblock print.
Fire at Ryogoku was the biggest fire in the Meiji era. Kiyochika who lived at Ryogoku at the time ran out of his house as soon as the fire happened. And he sketched and printed the vivid scenes. These documental prints had a high reputation, and made him much more famous, who was well known as a landscape painter.

Condition: Pristine Condition. Very minor ink smudges on the bottom margin which will be easily matted out.
