Fine black and white woodblock print "Fukiya yanami" (Scenery of Roofs of Fukiya) is by Katsuyuki Nishijima. This print is one of Nishijima's new series with only black & white. Fukiya Village is located in the middle north-west of Okayama Prefecture. Fukiya is Edo Style town with many traditional houses which remain since Edo period. It is also known as the town of "Bengara." Bengara is colcothar ink made from oxidized iron which was commonly produced in this area during Edo period. The main street is designated as the national historical and cultural important preserved district.
