Kaneko created this special print with his wish for Japan to recover from the huge disaster in 2011. Limited edition "311" came from the date of this disaster on March 11th."Ai" means "Love ". Japanese people help each other based on "Love". We noticed how important "Love" is in these hard times. Traditionally these "koinobori" is for boy's day celebration, but "Ai" is so important for all of Japan's recovery that it too should be celebrated and revered.
"Koinobori" is carp-shaped flag. "Koi nobori" is most often see during "Tango-no-Sekku" (Boy's Festival) when a carp is flown for each son in the family, a very large one for the eldest, the others ranging down in size. The top flag has "Ai" (Love) in Japanese Kanji. Artist seal:"KUNI" Hand signed and titled in pencil by the artist. Very impressive print that symbolized our hopes for Japan's rapid recovery and a memorial to all those that suffered.
