Amazing woodblock print "Aki - Kitakata, Nagatoko" (Autumn at Kumano Shrine) is by Kazuyuki Ohtsu. How wonderful contrast and colors!  A peaceful image of vivid golden leaves against a serene background. Strong texture on thick fine Japanese washi paper. Beautiful handmade paper.  Nagatoko is a long wide room at Kumano Shrine, in Fukushima prefecture, which is similar to a worshipper's hall, at the other shrines. The building is used by the highest ranking people; where only the aristocracy was permitted entrance. Generally, the purpose was to be closer to the deity of the shrine. The hall could also be used for special religious training. Many people visit to see the beautiful architecture of the shrine. Especially, autumn is the best season because of all the amazing contrast like this print.
